Stay Safe

Safety Tips

DriveX connects buyers and sellers directly. To keep yourself protected, follow these guidelines every time you transact on the platform.

Your safety is our top priority

NEVER pay any money in advance before inspecting and verifying a vehicle in person. Legitimate sellers will never ask for a deposit through unofficial channels.

Safety Guidelines

Follow these rules to protect yourself in every transaction

Meet in a Safe Location
Always meet in a well-lit, public place — a bank, police station, or busy parking lot. Never meet at night or in isolated areas. Bring a friend if possible.
Verify Identity & Documents
Ask to see the seller's National Identity Card (NIC) and verify it matches the name on the CR Book (Certificate of Registration). Both must match exactly.
Inspect Before You Pay
Never pay before a physical inspection. Use a trusted mechanic to assess the vehicle. Check the engine number and chassis number against the CR Book.
Use Safe Payment Methods
Pay in person, in cash, or by bank transfer only after physically receiving the vehicle. Never use wire transfers, crypto, or gift cards. Get a signed receipt.
Check Vehicle History
Verify the vehicle has no outstanding finance, mortgage, or police case using the Department of Motor Traffic records. Ask for a CRIB report if buying on credit.
Recognise Scam Signs
Be suspicious if: the price is too good to be true, the seller is abroad, they ask for advance payment, or they pressure you to decide quickly. These are red flags.
Verify the Seller's Phone
All DriveX sellers are OTP-verified on registration. Still, call the seller before meeting to confirm their identity and the vehicle details match the listing.
Complete Legal Transfer
After agreeing on a sale, transfer ownership at a registered notary or lawyer. Both parties should sign a sale agreement. Never accept a vehicle without a proper transfer.
Bring a Trusted Person
Never meet a stranger alone to buy or sell a vehicle. Bring a family member, friend, or colleague. More witnesses means more protection for both parties.
